Illinois Inmate Search

Before finding an inmate, you need to know where the inmate is housed. In Illinois, the felons sentenced by the courts to the state's prison system are incarcerated in the Illinois Department of Corrections(IDOC) which is operated by the state. The other inmates are incarcerated in the county jails or municipal jails which are operated by the counties and municipalities. State prisons, county jails, and municipal jails are separate entities.

If the inmate is housed in a county jail, use the jail inmate search tool. An inmate search tool allows users to search for detailed information about the inmates currently or formerly incarcerated in the county jail. There are generally several search options such as Search by Name, Search by Booking Number, Search by Booking Date Range, etc. Users need to enter the relevant information in the search field(s) and then click on the search button. Some counties may provide a jail roster or report that displays all inmate records on the website. Using the Inmate Search, users can get the mugshot, personal information, booking history, bond information, court information, charge information, and so on of the inmates.
